Fine-Grained, Flexible Data Access Control

CREDANT for Handhelds is the first mobile data security solution to provide secure, Bluetooth proximity access for users operating a PDA or smart phone while driving. With the Bluetooth® Proximity Access feature enabled, a PDA or smartphone will remain active while in range of an authorized Bluetooth device but, automatically locks once its Bluetooth headset or other device is no longer nearby. This allows use of GPS or other applications while driving, but ensures data protection remains in force.

Permission lists give powerful application control for handhelds. Whitelists ensure that only pre-defined applications run on handheld mobile devices, while Blacklists prevent installation and use of undesirable applications. Once Blacklisted, applications cannot be renamed by users to bypass security. By locking down handheld images, Whitelists and Blacklists reduce the threat of unauthorized applications being installed that might introduce malicious code to the network, threatening data security.

Improve access detection and local security policy enforcement with Over-the-Air (OTA) Sync Control. OTA Sync Control detects handheld devices trying to synchronize email and contacts via Exchange ActiveSync. The feature effectively tracks and optionally blocks any user or unsecured handheld device from downloading corporate information and email and helps ensure that data stored on mobile devices is secured if the device is lost or stolen.
